Cocaine is a powerful stimulant that is typically ingested as a powder and snorted. Those that abuse cocaine recreationally do it for the strong but short-lived high the drug can elicit. However, continued abuse of cocaine over an extended period of time can easily lead to physical dependence and addiction due to the drug’s potency and its effect on the human brain.
If you or a loved one has been abusing cocaine and you find yourself unable to stop or are experiencing withdrawal symptoms whenever you attempt to quit, our addiction specialists at Primrose Lodge can help you.

As part of our cocaine addiction treatment at Primrose Lodge, we offer addiction counselling therapy. Addiction counselling is an important part of the rehabilitation process, as it gives you the chance to explore the psychological aspects of your addiction and discover its root causes. Discovering and treating the root cause of your addiction is the key to lasting recovery.
Our addiction counselling process can also enlighten you about what stressors trigger your need to abuse and how you can avoid or combat these stressors. Depending on your unique needs, we have highly qualified experts that can provide one-to-one therapy or group therapy, or both.
An important first step on the path to recovery from addiction is detoxification. Detoxification involves ridding your body completely of all traces of cocaine. This process occurs naturally a few hours after your last dose of the drug, but it can be very uncomfortable and painful to go through on your own because of the withdrawal symptoms that manifest. To minimise your discomfort and make the detoxification process as easy and effective as possible, we can provide you with personalised medical detoxification.
Medical drug detoxification involves using a variety of medications and other therapies to ease your withdrawal symptoms and make the detoxification process as comfortable as possible. Aside from minimising your physical and psychological discomfort, our medical detoxification also minimises the risk of relapse and can speed up the detoxification process.
We have a highly experienced clinical medical team that will be at your side for the entire duration of your detox, providing therapeutic support as well as 24/7 nursing care. To have your addiction treated by professionals who care, call us today on 0203 553 9263.
How each individual experiences the detox process is bound to vary due to factors such as your physiology, mental health, and the severity of your addiction before quitting. Nonetheless, you can generally expect the detoxification process to progress according to the following timeline.
24-72 hours: You are likely to experience withdrawal symptoms such as paranoia and body pains during the initial 72 hours of withdrawal. Some people also experience visual and auditory hallucinations at this stage but these symptoms are likely to gradually subside after the initial 72 hours.
Week 1: After your first week of withdrawals, symptoms such as extreme fatigue, insomnia, irritability, and a general lack of motivation are likely to set in.
Week 2: By the second week, depression and your cravings for cocaine are likely to intensify. You may also experience anxiety.
Weeks 3-4: By the third or fourth week, your physical health and mental well-being should begin to stabilise. Physical cravings will still linger but will be less than they formerly were. Anxiety and depression may also linger but this is likely to subside as time passes.
After you have completed detoxification, your treatment isn’t complete yet. You need to immediately follow it up with rehabilitation. This is because detoxification only treats the physical aspects of your addiction and rehabilitation is important to treat the psychological aspects.
We have a wide range of therapies available which will be used to ensure your rehabilitation is comprehensive and its results effective and long lasting. Your rehabilitation process will include group counselling sessions as well as one-on-one sessions. You will also go through a variety of behavioural therapies to help you look inward and find the strength to attain lasting sobriety.
Our rehabilitation programme can be tailored to suit your unique needs, but we typically provide a 28-day programme. If your addiction is particularly severe and you require more help, we can put you through a more extensive programme. Rest assured that our rehabilitation programme will help you recover physically, mentally and spiritually, as well as achieve a lasting recovery.
At Primrose Lodge, we provide a comprehensive inpatient treatment programme. Going through our rehab programme will help you develop a strong foundation that the rest of your recovery can be built on, thus minimising your chances of suffering a relapse. Not only is our rehab programme comprehensive, it is also highly structured and can be personalised to suit your unique needs.
We make use of a variety of addiction treatment methodologies which have been tested and proven with powerful results. Your recovery will occur in our safe, nurturing and supportive environment at the hands of our compassionate and experienced medical team. We also have counsellors and therapists that can provide you therapeutic support and much more.
Throughout your stay in our facility, you will be supervised and cared for around the clock by our nursing staff and your treatment adjusted as necessary to meet your changing needs. You will also be guarded against triggers and stressors that may distract you from recovery.
